Welcome

Welcome to Post #1.  I thought I’d include a basic introduction to this blog and what  you can expect.

My name is Travis and I like making things.   I dabble in all mediums. Whatever strikes my fancy, I’ll try.  I tend to gravitate toward woodworking and paper projects.  But I love learning new techniques and trying out different mediums.  I like to think of myself as an artist in search of a medium.

I’m a bit of a geek.  I’m not an uber-geek, but I certainly have strong geek tendencies.   I like sci-fi, fantasy, World Of Warcraft, Star Wars, Star Trek, computers, board games, and most of geek culture.  Many of my projects reflect this.  This blog will allow me to let my geek flag fly with a dash or two of creativity.

I enjoy building websites.  I have a number of woodworking websites.  Most of which deals specifically with scroll sawing.  Its a niche I fell into and really enjoy.  However, I also like to dabble in other forms of woodworking, not just scroll sawing.  I wanted a place to share my projects, thoughts, and experiments as I explore woodworking and other crafts.

As of right now, most of my woodworking projects could be classified as woodcrafting.  These projects tend to be smaller and more decorative in nature.  They’re also items that take little money and time to create.  Sometimes I spend a lot of energy to make things perfect, other times I just knock out a project to scratch that woodworking itch.  Eventually, I’d like to delve into furniture-making and create my own designs.  Especially after wasting a bunch of money on the crap you buy from China.

It really comes down to the fact that I like to make things.  I enjoy art, crafting, building, and tinkering.  This will be a blog about those things.

I hope you enjoy the site and I encourage you to subscribe via email.  It should be a fun ride.
