Storm Trooper Art

Here is a fun little project I did in honor of the new Star Wars movie.  I found this stencil on the internet and brought it into Inkscape.  I used the Trace Bitmap tool and saved the SVG.  I imported it into Easel and cut it out.  I did a shallow cut of 1/16″.  It took about an hour to cut, but I had my feed rates set pretty conservatively.  Once it was finished, I sanded it to get rid of the fuzzier.  I painted the inside with black craft paint.  Once dry, I sanded the top again to remove the black paint from the top, but the paint remains in the recesses.  With an air compressor, I blew out the saw dust, then framed it.  I might go back and paint the Storm Trooper white and add a clear coat.

This was a quick and easy project that makes for a really cool wall decoration for my Geek Cave.
